Many people believe that in a fully automated future, they simply can go back to “living off the land”. The romanticised idea of growing your own fruit and vegetables and keeping a few chickens appeals to a lot of people, especially those living in cities.
In our November community event, we will talk about why this is a misguided assumption and the reasons behind our thinking.
After all, where would you live? Do you own a house and a plot of land big enough to sustain you and your family? How in depth is your agricultural knowledge on how to run a mini farm and how to raise animals? Would you find it easy to slaughter a calf which you raised yourself whilst looking into it’s adorable dark eyes? What if there is a drought or flooding? Would you be sharing your meagre existence with some of the millions of people who would be fleeing the cities?
We will also discuss alternatives of how a fully automated future can look like and what we can do NOW to prepare and be ready.
