You may ask, will we ever have a UBI? The answer is: Yes. We will get UBI; as soon as enough of us vote for it. However, if just sit at home waiting for change, it won’t happen. We have to vote for a UBI. We have to make our voices heard!
You don’t believe me? Then look at Brazil. In Brazil, in 2001, Senator Eduardo Suplicy introduced a law that mandated UBI’s progressive institution. In 2004, it was signed into law by President Lula da Silva. Yes, 2004! A lot of time has passed since then, and the implementation was always going to be slow; especially when you’re the first country in the world to implement it. However, UBI is now law, and the current president is again Lula da Silva, who is working with Eduardo Suplicy to look at the best way of putting money into every person’s pocket; with no strings attached.
Of course, if you don’t want a regular monthly payment in your bank account with no strings attached, then don’t vote for it. If you are well-off and don’t need the additional money, then good for you. You’re probably a business owner who could do with all your customers having a bit of extra cash to spend. Wait! That means that you actually want UBI too.
I, for one, will vote in favour of UBI, and I strongly encourage you to do so too.
